Hello. My name is Leigh, but you can also call me Ken’s wife or Edie and Roark’s mom. I have a lot of names, really. My kids call me “Mommy” which means their kisser of boo boos, food fairy, and teacher of all things “amazing”. To my husband, I am his partner in crime, cruise ship director, and soft place to land. But to most people, I’m just a normal mom trying to make it through the day.
If you would have told me ten years ago that I would have this life, I would have been quick to tell you, “You’ve got the wrong girl!” I’m not a homebody. I never saw my life being centered around my home, but sometimes life takes you down a completely different road than the one you planned. And if you’re lucky, that journey turns out better than you expected.
This blog is my story while traveling down that road. It’s about embracing the fact that my house is now my workplace and that our home is where my family lives and learns. I don’t want to just get by, slugging through each day. I want to thrive here. I’m learning that homemaking is an art, and I want to master it. I want to find joy in the mundane moments of running a household and look for laughter in the craziness of child rearing and homeschooling.
Come along with me as I learn from my mistakes, celebrate my victories, and perfect the art of homemaking.
