Good Things

So every year on Easter, we take advantage of all the grandkids being spit shined, polished, and wearing their best duds and snap a few pics.  It’s kind of become our Easter thang.  Some years go better than others, and some kids are more cooperative than others.  But this year the stars were aligned in their proper place, and we were able to get a few pictures with smiles on everybody.  IMG_9679Don’t they look angelic?  Don’t be fooled.  They are laughing at some really crass jokes.  Think pooting noises, booty shaking, and spankings for all the adults.  Hey, whatever it takes…we’ll go there! Easter Surprise

Leigh —  March 29, 2013 — 1 Comment

I have mixed feelings about dying Easter eggs.  I know the kids love it, but I worry about the mess.  Spilled dye, ruined clothing, and green fingertips are enough to send my little high-strung self into a panic attack.  In the past years, I haven’t had to stress about this Easter ritual because Ken’s aunt took it upon herself to host an Easter egg dying party, but sadly,  even she had to finally say it was too much to handle.

So for the first time since I’ve been a wife and mother, I had to buy my own Easter egg dye this year.  Truthfully, it’s probably the first time I’ve ever bought Easter egg dye since I’m pretty sure my mom always did the dye purchasing when I was a kid.At the last minute, I decided to just embrace it.  So I baked some brownies and called some friends over to join us.   I knew it would add to my stress, but I figured since it was already at a high level, why not host a party?  What could be the harm?  After all, I am a sucker for any kind of holiday party.Oh there were spills…and some green fingertips…but overall the kids had a blast. While the kids were dying eggs, the other moms and I hatched a plan (Get it?  Easter eggs?  Hatched? Thank you! I’ll be here all week!).  We decided what this party really needed was an Easter egg hunt. I was completely unprepared for this.  Well, I did have a huge bag of eggs because I’m a holiday pack rat, but my candy selection was lacking.  We ended up stuffing the eggs with leftover Valentine’s candy, some strawberry jelly candies I bought on impulse the other day because I needed something sugary after Easter basket shopping, and some pennies.

The kids didn’t care.  You would have thought those eggs were stuffed with gold they way they ran around frantically searching for them.  It was adorable to watch, but completely impossible to take pictures of.  So you’ll just have to take my word for it.

We ended our thrown together party with everyone sitting in the floor sucking on strawberry candies and counting pennies.  What better way to celebrate our risen Savior?!

So I think I’ve found a way to manage my egg dying stress, and I definitely see more Easter parties and egg hunts in our future.

Easter 2012

And without further ado, our Easter pictures on the swing:

Admit it…you find them as adorable as I do.

If my folks have anymore grand kids, I think we’re going to have to get a bigger swing.

This is my brother’s clan.

The kids endure the photo session so they can take this one picture at the end.  Unfortunately, neither of the boys held out long enough to be a part of it.
